I’m NOT a morning person, never have been. I’m at my best from 10 pm to 2 am! Somehow morning larks get all the glory when historically it was us night owls who kept your butts unmonched by wolves! But, there are a few things I like about the morning…

A latte to like about the morning

It can’t be said I’m an early bird

It’s 10 o’clock before I say a word

I like the diffused light of the morning when dew is burning off. I like the bird songs. I like knocking out a clean puck of espresso after I’ve pulled a shot. And of late I like how sweet and loving this pup is in the morning. We get up and do some stretching on the floor, which is her cue to find a way to be under me regardless od how much ground clearance there might be and give my face a bath any opportunity she finds. I also an enjoying the morning walk with the long shadows and the aforementioned light and birds.

Long shadows

I can love these things, but I have no intention of becoming a virtuous morning person. To them I have the same question as Hozier:

Don’t you just wanna wake up, dark as a lake

Smellin’ like a bonfire, lost in a haze?
