I have a hard time resting.

That’s not to say that I am very productive, I am not. I just can’t seem to get rest when I feel like I could be doing things (even fun things). I was able to convince myself to not chase light during golden hour and find an interesting foreground for the mountains. I’m lucky to have this mountain view for the next few days and with the weather always changing the chances for epic sunsets are always present. But balancing the need to rest (I’m tired from a long week, travel, and the altitude isn’t helping) with FOMO of missing out on a great photo is hard.

Tonight’s sunset was also gorgeous and the light was playing against the peaks and valleys and making the clouds in the valleys glow. I sat on a chair and admired the beauty instead of driving around trying to find a spot and being frustrated that I definitely don’t have the right gear to capture this majestic view. I love my compact travel setup of a film range finder with a 40 mm lens, it’s just not suited to this. So I had to write a whole blog post to convince myself that resting and enjoying the beauty instead of worrying about capturing it was the right choice. It was.
